All of our programmes contain an element of Protective Behaviours.
Protective Behaviours is a practical and down to earth approach to personal safety. It is a process that teaches life skills for self empowerment, personal safety and emotional well-being as well as promoting good citizenship.
The programme teaches an ability to recognise when we are not feeling safe and provide skills and tools to enable individuals to take action and get help when they need it. By adopting a whole school delivery approach, we help you to create a culture of safety, resilience and well-being in your setting.
With bespoke packages that include staff training, whole school awareness, assemblies, parent wellness evenings, children’s peer mentor training and assisted small group delivery, we can provide a package to suit your needs which will include ALL the resources you will need to ensure sustainable delivery in the future.
Protective behaviours has received recognition by the Suzie Lamplugh trust in their video and training manual “Home Safe”
Unplugged is an evidence-based, 12 week secondary school programme designed to equip young people with specific skills and resources that they need to resist social influences and to support knowledge about drugs and their adverse consequences.
The drug prevention programme is for groups of young people between 12 and 14 years of age and is based on the cognitive social influence model. This programme has been developed in a cooperation of 7 EU Countries, known as the EU-DAP project and has been evaluated for effectiveness. This programme also includes 3 parent workshops as part of the delivery programme to ensure an integrated approach to tackling drug and alcohol awareness in your school.
Team Building and Problem Solving in a fun, engaging and challenging programme aimed at Upper KS2 and Year 7 children. This can be run during the school day over a period of 6 weeks with groups of targeted children or whole classes. It can also be run as an After School Club.​
Our experienced and fun staff run a series of team building and solutions focused activities, ranging from Spy Camp to Egg Dropping - all of our activities have a maths/science base so can also be used as an extra curricular maths/science support club. We are able to differentiate the delivery modules if you want to use the sessions for your Gifted and Talented pupils.
Using the fantastic resources from the Dove self esteem project Free Being Me- a programme aimed at Year 6/7 girls or older, on raising aspirations and building resilient self esteem in preparation for the teen years and adulthood. We look toward the future and how we might achieve all we want to, whatever that may be. Some self reflection, planning, an understanding of coping with failure and how to recognise the true meaning of beauty and being true to oneself are all included in this 6 week programme. We also include some Protective Behaviours work in this programme along the themes of recognising and understanding when we feel unsafe and strategies to deal with this.
The Protective Behaviours (PBs) process starts from the belief that we cannot be
scared into feeling safe. It therefore avoids a focus on scary scenarios and rigid sets of rules for how to deal with unsafe situations (which tend to induce fear and guilt).
Instead, it starts from the positive of recognising when we feel safe and teaches the ability to recognise when we are not feeling safe, it also provides skills and tools to enable individuals to take action and get help when they need it. Protective Behaviours recognises that life is also about taking risks and trying new things and that this is part of our development and an important life skill.
The Protective Behaviours process has been used and adapted for many settings. For example,, for conflict resolution skills, bullying prevention, domestic violence, abuse prevention and general keeping safe training.
The skills and strategies are universal and suited to all people regardless of age, abilities, culture or religion.
With this 6 week programme to groups or classes of children we give them the skills to recognise their early warning signs and how to feel and keep safe. We also deliver sessions to staff as wellbeing modules at staff meetings or as a two day INSET training.
